Various factors make endodontic microsurgery an essential complementary treatment for the healing of periradicular infections, thereby extending the lifespan of natural teeth and significantly enhancing patients’ quality of life. This approach often presents significant challenges for clinicians. However, with meticulous planning, these challenges can be effectively managed, reducing risks and increasing the success rates of tooth survival procedures. This lecture will explore the latest methods available to overcome the diverse clinical challenges encountered in endodontic microsurgery.
The necrotic tooth with “Open apex” is a condition which represents a treatment challenge in endodontics. It is a clinical situation which may be the consequence of: 1) trauma which has caused the interruption of the development of the pulpal-dentinal complex in immature teeth; 2) trauma which leaves the teeth in an immature stage, but is discovered in the adult age; 3) complex anatomies such as “dens in dente” 4) Resorptive defects that create irregularly opened apices. Current treatment options and techniques include traditional apexification, MTA apexification, and the latest trends that are represented by the so-called regenerative/reparative procedures.
The different options will be discussed in the background of clinical experience and literature.

Root canal shaping has always been one of the fundamental moments of endodontic therapy, for years the use of nickel titanium rotary instruments has enormously facilitated this phase and the continuous updating of the alloys has partly modified the methods of use of the instruments themselves. The report will analyze all the clinical aspects that guide us in the choice of instruments according to the different anatomical situations to be faced.
Lesions are the result of the evolution of an Apical Periodontitis and are due to a bacterial proliferation. But when a large periapical lesion is diagnosed on the X-ray, most of the time, the first idea is to ask how to remove it and then who will be able to do it surgically: the practitioner, the oral surgeon or possibly the endodontist.
In fact, faced with this situation, the first step is a precise diagnosis to determine the origin of the lesion and ensure that it is a lesion of endodontic origin, in order to avoid treating endodontically vital teeth or performing unnecessary surgery.
Different tests will be necessary (vitality tests, CBCT, and clinical examination) and the analysis of the results and their comparison with the patient’s perception will allow us to make this diagnosis and to determine our therapeutic choice between an endodontic or surgical treatment or both.
Throughout this presentation, our experiment, as a clinician, will allow the participants through many clinical cases, to learn to diagnose and treat large periapical lesions.
Root resorption is a pathological process involving the destruction of tooth root structures, often triggered by trauma, orthodontic forces, or inflammation. This condition poses significant challenges in diagnosis and treatment due to its complex and variable nature. Recent advancements, particularly in imaging technologies like cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), have enhanced early detection and assessment of root resorption. A deeper understanding of the differential diagnosis between all the types of root resorption is paving the way for more effective, individualized management strategies. Further research is necessary to refine these approaches and improve patient outcomes.
Digital endodontics represents the integration of advanced digital technologies into endodontic practice, significantly enhancing diagnosis, treatment planning, and procedural accuracy.

Composite materials are mixtures of organic resins and inorganic filler particles, interconnected by an interfacial bonding agent. Composite materials can also be defined as a combination of two or more chemically different materials with a clear boundary between the components, which is characterised by properties better than those of its individual components. The key component is a mixture of different monomers that convert to a cross-linked polymer matrix during the process of polymerisation. In addition to monomers, other components are necessary to attain the desired properties of the composite material, namely fillers, an interfacial bonding agent, and polymerisation initiators. All the components of composites have been changed, developed and improved to get the composites we have today. As composite materials have found applications in all branches of contemporary dental medicine, daily work in modern dental practice is unthinkable without this material group. Composite materials are used for many indications, ranging from reconstructions of carious defects, traumas, morphological and aesthetic abnormalities, discolourations in permanent and deciduous dentition, as cavity coatings, pit and fissure sealants, inlays, onlays, overlays, crowns, luting materials for indirect restorations and intracanal posts, for making core build-ups, splints, adhesive bonding of orthodontic braces, etc.
This is the reason why we have to have an optimal contemporary material to fulfill all the expectations of the dentist and the patient.
It would be ideal to have a material with good esthetic, physical, mechanical and biological properties with optimal handling properties and bioactive potential.
There has been a volcanic eruption of technologies in Endodontics over the past 20 years. The development of NiTi shaping files, the debut of biocompatible materials, the advent of CBCT for improved diagnostics. These minimally invasive technologies promote the maximum preservation of tooth structure, but according to an old aphorism enunciated by Herbert Schilder, for the success of endodontic therapy, “what is removed” is more important than “what is introduced” into the canal system. In this view, laser activated irrigation, and more specifically SWEEPS technology represents a breakthrough method for 3D disinfecting of the root canal system. This unique irrigation method produces fluid cavitation in the root canal system as result of photoacoustic phenomenum generated by erbium YAG laser ultra-short dual pulses energy delivered by the tip kept stationary in the access cavity of the tooth. In this way, the use of EDTA and NaOCl, along the correct protocol, improve the cleaning and decontaminating effect of root canals when compared to conventional methods. The SWEEPS protocol is validated by several in vitro studies, supported by a strong body of published and non-published experiments and data, and confirmed by thousands of clinical trials.

Villa Paula
Dr. Paula Villa is an endodontist graduated from Universidad CES in Medellin, Colombia. She is co-founder of the graduated endodontic program in Universidad de Antioquia, where she is a Titular Professor. Dr. Villa is the former president of the Colombian Association of Endodontists, she has authored scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and has her private practice limited to Endodontics and Endodontic Microsurgery in Medellín, Colombia.
Gorni Fabio
Dr. Fabio Gorni graduated in dentistry and dental prosthetics from the University of Milan in 1984. Former professor A.C. in endodontics University of Milan H. San Paolo. He is an active member of the Italian Society of Endodontics, of the Italian Academy of Microscopic Dentistry, specialist member of the European Society of Endodontology and member of the American Association of endodontists. From 1994 to 1998 member of the membership acceptance commission of S.I.E. . From 1998 to 2001 Cultural Secretary of the Italian Society of Endodontics, and President for the two-year period 2003-2005. He is currently the Past-President S.I.E. Speaker in Italy and abroad in numerous courses and conferences, he has numerous publications in national and international magazines as well as having produced scientific videos. In collaboration with Dr. C.J. Ruddle has in fact published a video series entitled “The Endodontic Game” distributed in Europe, USA, Canada, Australia and Asia. He carries out his private professional practice in Milan where the clinical fields he mainly covers are clinical and surgical endodontics with particular interest in aspects of endodontic microscopy, as well as all the applications of Micro Dentistry.

Giovanni in 2007 has been awarded with the “Leon Goldman Award” for clinical exellence and in 2024 with the ”Theodore H. He autored over 80 peer-reviewed papers, and 5 books on Laser Dentistry, in different languages, english, italian and chinese.

Grande Nicola M.
Dr. Nicola M Grande received his degree in Dentistry (DDS) from the Catholic University of Sacred Heart (UCSC), Rome, Italy in 1999 with a degree thesis on the fracture of NiTi rotary instruments. After two years in the Department of Endodontics at the same University, he served as an Assistant Professor in Endodontics from 2001 to 2009. He has been Professor of Endodontics in the School of Dental Hygiene (2002-2008). From 2009 to 2013 he has worked as researcher in the Department of Endodontics at the University of Roma “La Sapienza”. He completed his PhD program at the Catholic University of Sacred Heart, in 2009, with a thesis on an innovative technique for the restoration of the endodontically treated teeth, that he has invented. Presently he is Professor and Chair of Endodontics at UCSC. His main scientific interests are the preparation of root canals with Nickel-Titanium rotary instruments, the study of anatomy and preparation of endodontic anatomy by micro-computed tomography techniques and the restoration of the endodontically treated teeth with new conservative approaches. He contributed in the development of different instrument systems and new techniques and he is holder of different international patents in the field of dentistry. He is certified member of the European Society of Endodontology (ESE), of the American Association of Endodontics (AAE) and active member of the Italian Society of Conservative Dentistry (SIDOC) and of the Italian Academy of Endodontics (AIE). He has been elected as the president of Italian Academy of Endodontics for the years 2023/2024. Dr.Grande is member of the Editorial board for the major international journals in endodontic field; he has published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals, where he has more than 100 papers published with impact factor, in 2023 his H-index is 44 and he has more than 1500 citations. He lectures since more than 15 years both nationally and internationally. He is working as specialist of endodontics and micro-surgery in his own private clinic in Rome Italy.

In the realm of modern dentistry, sub-periosteal implantation has emerged as a revolutionary technique that offers individuals a second chance at restoring their smile and regaining their oral health. This lecture delves into the intricacies of sub-periosteal implantation, explaining its benefits, procedure, and why it stands out as an unparalleled solution to dental issues.
Atrophy of the maxilla poses significant challenges to dental rehabilitation, particularly in the context of dental implant placement. There exist numerous approaches to manage such scenarios, ranging from invasive techniques such as zygomatic implants, sinus lifting, and bone grafting, to more minimal invasive methods utilizing pterygoid implants and the transnasal approach. The latter techniques are particularly interesting due to their potential for early loading, where patients can receive a fixed rehabilitation within 2-3 weeks post-operatively.
Background
Immediate implant placement protocols are the most technique sensitive protocols with the high risk of complication and extreme aesthetic compromise, or even a failure. Throughout the years, a big dilemma aroused where clinicians continuously faced disappointing results that affected their belief in immediate implantation concept and its promising goals.
Aim/Hypothesis
Research and clinical studies were focusing on understanding the etiology and defining the factors of complications aiming fot solutions. Dramatic changes had been achieved on the level of understanding bone and soft tissue biology and esthetics criteria that led to new innovations and new protocols.
Materials and Methods
A 20 years retrospective clinical review of cases taken from my practice of immediate implantation that ended with complications, and failures will be presented.
Evidence based research and publications related to understanding the etiology and factors that led to complications, ending to management.
New vision of understanding bone and soft tissue biology surrounding immediately placed implants. Continuously changing guidelines in terms of concept, methods, techniques, and protocols that were developed to overcome those complications will be presented.
Results
Dramatic changes in terms of concept, techniques, guidelines, and protocols had taken place to overcome immediate implant complications. Despite we may have a long history of successful cases, there were always pitfalls as well, which are defined as complications. It is true that there are complications for every method or technique that may occur, but a simple flash back on cases done in the past will show that most of our complications were a sequence of unintended mistakes done because of lack of knowledge and understanding at that time.
Conclusions and Clinical implications
As we climb up higher with our learning curve, and gain more experience by continuously updating our knowledge, we become more capable to define almost every year a new cutting edge in our understanding of complications and failures. Many techniques proffered in the past are now mostly neglected and considered now as MISTAKES, while till now the literature is still not definitive in terms of any one treatment modality to recover all such complications.
We will be discussing the interrelationship between malocclusion, sleep disordered breathing and TMD.
Included in the lecture will be topics such as preventing dentofacial dysmorphosis, health based orthodontics, craniofacial pain, the implications for poor sleep and sub optimal breathing.
Can predictable aesthetic-functional results be achieved with Computer-Guided Implantology?
Absolutely yes. Thanks to the digitalization of workflows, we can now perform implant procedures with a highly planned and controlled approach. Advanced software allows us to visualize both the surgical and prosthetic phases in detail, ensuring seamless integration between design and execution.
The aim of this presentation is to demonstrate how guided implantology, regardless of the surgical technique used, enables the achievement of optimal and reproducible aesthetic-functional outcomes over time. The key to success lies in simplifying daily clinical practice, which not only enhances treatment predictability but also raises quality standards and operational efficiency.

The masterclass / workshop will be 4 h long .
During 1h30 minutes I will present the theoretical introduction, namely : techniques (including lateral window open technique) , indications , contraindications , medications and complications.
Then we will have 30 minutes of discussion and questions and answers .
After we will do the hands on of sinus lift and filling techniques (closed and open wall techniques) in specific plastic models to practice the different techniques during 2h.
Regarding materials we will work with the specific plastic models for sinus lift and filling , dummy (non sterile) Biomaterials from OsteoBiol for hands on.

It will begin with the historical contributions of national standards organizations such as DIN (Germany), JISC (Japan), and ANSI (USA), highlighting their collaboration with ISO in creating technical guidelines that facilitate advancements recognized globally by government agencies. The focus will be on the processes involved in developing standards, including procedural and essential requirements, consensus-building, and the necessary resources for effective development. Dr. Maxine Feinberg, a Cranford, New Jersey based periodontist, served President-of the American Dental Association from 2014-15. She served for four years as the Fourth District Trustee of the American Dental Association.
Dr. Feinberg graduated from New York University College of Arts and Sciences in 1977 and NYU’s College of Dentistry in 1980. She returned to NYU after her residency in anesthesiology and working as a general dentist and treating patients confined in nursing homes to complete her certificate in Periodontics in 1984.
Dr. Feinberg is a past president of the New Jersey Dental Association and the New Jersey State Board of Dentistry., where she served for 9 years. She has been a delegate in both the ADA and New Jersey Dental Associations House of Delegates. She initiated the New Jersey Give Kids A Smile campaign for 2002 and 2003. She remains active in both her component dental society and the NJDA.
She is a fellow in the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.

Photography is powerful in dentistry, its numerous applications such as diagnosis, treatment planning, legal documentation, publishing, lecturing and social media posting, has made digital photography a standard of care in modern dental practices.
Nowadays the DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) cameras are widely used in dentistry to take high definition macro images.
Recently, smartphones have come a long way in digital photography due to recent technology development.
The purpose of this lecture is to demonstrate the capacity of these devices to take high quality dental pictures and videos, which are useful in different types of documentation and communication, in a feasible teachable and repeatable way, by everyone and for everyday practice.
In recent years, humanity has witnessed a technological transformation of epic proportions, which has also significantly impacted Dentistry. The increasing use of digital workflow technology has brought numerous advantages to our daily practice. Among the main benefits of using this technology are faster and more accurate digital diagnostics, which not only improve planning but also enhance the execution of final treatments. This results in valuable support for reducing execution time and advancing the ceramic materials used.
Given these advantages, the question arises: will the analog workflow become obsolete? Can we achieve the same quality and harmonious aesthetics in restorative treatments produced by the most advanced technology, compared to those created by human hands?

Well described protocols for shaping, finishing, and polishing make it feasible to sculp the shape. Although multilayer composite has been around for a very long time, the success has always been depending on the experience of the operator with a specific composite systems . When looking at a tooth, every dentist will immediately have figured out a composite recipe to restore this tooth with their trusted composite system. But the problem remains that no standard, reproducible protocol is available to recreate the shade to successfully restore the tooth within clinically acceptable terms. The most common method is a visual verification, by comparing the Vita Shade or other shade guides to the dentition. This seems to work well in some cases, but the problem remains that most composite systems do not accurately follow any of the standard shade guides. By introducing digital recipes based on colorimeter pictures by Optishade, we can ensure a steadfast way of shade matching and remove the need to “guess” for the correct shades of composites.
Restorative Dentistry is constantly evolving, thanks to the development of new high-performance materials and simplified techniques. Nevertheless, the complexity of the dental element still represents a real challenge for the clinician today. When the integrity of the pulpo-dentin organ is compromised during the removal of damaged tissue or trauma, it is essential to know and apply the appropriate technique to preserve pulp vitality and perform the restoration of the dental element.
During the lecture, new bioactive materials based on calcium silicate, commonly called bioceramics, and the restoration techniques that exploit the characteristics of these new materials will be described. Indeed, thanks to their biocompatibility, bioactivity and biomineralization properties, they are successfully applied in different clinical procedures, ensuring a stable bond with both the dentin substrate and composite resins thanks to their adhesive properties. In addition to different clinical techniques, including direct and indirect capping of dental pulp, pulpotomy and perforation repair, bioceramics can act as dentin substitutes, filling the cavity in a single step, simplifying the restoration procedure and reducing chairside time. Therefore, the concepts related to therapy for the maintenance of pulp vitality will be discussed, supported by scientific evidence and documentation of clinical cases.
This topic discusses various important aspects related to successful esthetic rehabilitation, including planning, cases of significant discoloration, finalizations in partial anterior restorations, diastemata,and the use of no-prep and deep-prep veneers. The lecture also covers criteria for the choice of veneer
materials, the importance of digital protocols in partial anterior restorations, and the choice of fixing materials.
The aesthetics of the smile is a significant part of interest in dentistry, and restoring the anterior area is challenging due to the complex dental anatomy and the need for natural-looking results.

Hardan Louis
Prof. Louis Hardan, former head of the restorative and esthetic department at Saint Joseph University Beirut-Lebanon (2013-2019), actually director of the master program since 2019, coordinator of the prosthetic and esthetic master since 2021 and member of the digital dentistry, AI and evolving technologies department since 2023.
He graduated dentistry in 1989 and continued his post-doctoral education at Saint Joseph University; he obtained a certificate for basic science in 1993, he completed his specialization in restorative and esthetic dentistry in 1995, and completed his PhD in oral biology and materials (Esthetic and Prosthetic Dentistry) in 2009.
He was an active member of the Lebanese Dental Association board (LDA) (2006-2009) and was assigned as a general secretary of the LDA in 2009.
At the present, he is a full professor at Saint Joseph University (restorative and esthetic department and digital dentistry, AI and evolving technologies department) and owns a private practice in his home town Byblos.
He is an honorary and active international Styleitaliano member and the scientific director of this group.

The BOPT (Biological Oriented Preparation Technique) is a simplified prosthetic procedure that allows intervention in clinical cases already treated prosthetically, without multidisciplinary interventions.
New concepts will be examined: controlled invasion of the sulcus, emerging adaptation profiles, differentiated abrasion which are part of the technique itself.
Step by step cases with long-term follow-up will be presented to demonstrate the stability of the aesthetic results. The concepts of the B.O.P.T. technique they have also been transferred to the implant field with the creation of millable vertical abutments. The consequent thickening of the soft tissues allows for greater stability of the same and better aesthetics in the marginal area.
Today, there is a wide range of training available on surgical management of full-arch implant rehabilitations, for instance on All-on-4 technique, but uncertainty remains about the prosthetic issue, both provisional and definitive. The latter is still stressful for both clinicians and technicians, undermining the advantages resulting from the simplification of the surgical approach.
In fact, proposed protocols are often full of unnecessary steps and full of complexity. Our philosophy is to continuously update a complete protocol that will lead the dental team to a perfect aesthetic and functional outcome while dealing with advanced full-arch rehabilitations.
This means SHORTER TIMES and LOW COMPLEXITY STEPS.
This allows to ‘switch off the brain’ and conduct cases automatically regardless of their apparent complexity, reducing stress and human error.
The correct modern management of a post-extraction implant involves a careful analysis of the surgical site from the point of view of the volumes of the hard and soft tissues, as well as precise three-dimensional planning of the positioning of the implant. An accurate pre-operative digital analysis which can now be easily carried out via CBCT and optical impression allows us to study the bone thickness of the extraction socket as well as the thickness and height of the soft tissues in order to relate them to the ideal values of the peri-implant phenotype and possibly correct them already in the first phase surgical. The analysis of the site also allows the implant to be programmed with a post-extraction procedure of type 1,2,3 and to be positioned in a prosthetically guided manner. The surgery at this point can be completed with computer-guided or prosthetically guided surgery and any immediate loading is also planned in the pre-operative phase.
All of this is naturally fine in the treatment of the single element but allows a simplification of the procedure in the more complex surgery of complete arches.
During the last years during every type of dental treatments, the clinicians are trying to focus more on the tissue healing and regeneration, this is why where created new protocols and products in order to preserve the tissues and enhance the healing.
During this lecture it will be shown how the Active oxygen technology can improve the healing of the tissues that have been treated and how it’s possible to maintain this result over the time. Oxygen therapy is an important key factor for the dental treatments success.

Molar incisor hypomineralization (MIH) is a frequently encountered dental condition worldwide. It is defined as hypomineralization of systemic origin of one to four permanent first molars frequently associated with affected incisors. Depending on the severity, the condition can be associated with dental complications including rapid wear, enamel loss, increased susceptibility to caries, loss of fillings, and most of all, severe hypersensitivity often resulting in severe discomfort. The etiology of MIH remains unclear. Affected anterior teeth primarily show opacities of different shades and extensions, which can disturb the esthetic appearance and impair their quality of life. Therefore, children should be diagnosed as early as possible and should be offered a treatment that is appropriate to the severity of the condition.
This lecture aims to highlight different aspects related to MIH, from its etiology, diagnosis and classification to current treatment options.
Consolidated diagnostic and therapeutic protocols, framed in a new clinical staging of pulp pathologies, today make use of new materials and new instruments.
Operating protocols more consistent with the needs of the growing patient and of the element with an incompletely formed root enter the daily routine of the pediatric dentist (and not only …): from caries to dental trauma.
Dental trauma to permanent teeth in young children with teeth with open apices is a common situation which dentist encounter regularly. The ideal outcome is continued root formation and successful root canal treatment since these teeth with incomplete root development have short roots with thin walls, which compromises their longevity. Through regenerative therapy, one can facilitate root development in previously immature teeth with necrotic pulps. This is a significant benefit over conventional root canal treatment and especially valuable for young patients, as teeth preservation is critical to their skeletal and dental development.
Regenerative endodontics is one of the most remarkable advancements in dentistry and there have been many regenerative endodontic protocols over the years and further research is required into this novel approach to apexogenesis to assess the long-term prognosis of these teeth. Current research on pulp regeneration is growing and provides exciting possibilities for greater biological approaches to endodontics in the future. In this lecture we will discuss the protocols and biomaterials used to increase the chance of a successful outcome.
Amelogenesis Imperfecta (AI) is a collective designation for the variety of inherited conditions displaying isolated enamel malformations, but the designation is also used to indicate the presence of an enamel phenotype in syndromes. There is great variability in the clinical presentation of amelogenesis imperfecta. The clinical features of the affected enamel and the type of AI depend on the gene involved and the relevant mutation. Clinical phenotypes display a wide spectrum, ranging from mild color changes to severe structural alterations with daily pain. However, all affect the quality of life because of mechanical, psychological, esthetic, and/or social repercussions.
It will be possible to implement more accurate diagnostic methods and make a more precise prognosis if the clinical and radiographic appearance of the affected enamel can be correlated with the potential genetic origin of AI. The genetic control of amelogenesis is fully understood but requires the activities of multiple components that are uniquely important for dental enamel formation. Genetic studies have demonstrated the importance of genes encoding enamel matrix proteins in the etiology of isolated AI. More than 20 genes are, so far, known to be responsible for this condition. These results broaden our understanding of the molecular genetic pathology of tooth enamel formation.
The biological processes and mechanisms leading to AI are many and varied. Further research with a molecular approach will improve our understanding of these mechanisms and identify new mutations or genes and this will result in improved patient care and the development of new therapies to minimize or eliminate the problems associated with AI.
This lecture will focus on our research and the evidence about AI. We will review the genes and mutations underlying AI presenting in isolation from other health problems, the proteins they encode, and knowledge of their roles in amelogenesis, combining evidence from human phenotypes
The aim of this lecture is to present an evaluation of our studies regarding the role of the genes associated with AI types.

Figen Seymen graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry, Istanbul University, Türkiye, and obtained a Ph.D. degree and MSc degree from the same University and became a Professor of Pediatric Dentistry at Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry in 2002. She has many years of experience in academics in all aspects of dental education, didactic, clinical/patient care, and research mentoring for both MS and Ph.D. students. She has lectured as an invited speaker and has participated in many presentations at congresses and continuous education courses. Between 2014 and 2017 she was the head of the Department of Paediatric Dentistry at Istanbul University. She served as President of the Association of Mediterranean Societies of Pediatric Dentistry between 2014-2018 and still serves as a member of the Board of Directors. Intraoral scanners have revolutionized clinical and laboratory procedures in the dental field, offering greater precision and comfort for the patient. This report aims to analyze and compare the characteristics of scanners and impression materials, providing decision-making algorithms that guide professionals in choosing between the two different technologies.
Nowadays, in a modern dental office, a digital approach is mandatory for a correct diagnosis, a precise treatment planning and a safe execution of all our clinical cases.
The introduction of new digital devices completely changed our approach to the patients giving us the possibility to perfectly customize our treatments as well as clearly communicate the therapeutical proposes to the patient.
In particular, the applications of these new digital procedures in implantology have totally changed the way we perform the surgical and prosthetic treatments which can be today totally guided with a full digital flow chart from single implant cases to the most challenged ones like full edentulism and wide atrophies.
The guided approach to this discipline might be divided in two categories: the static (stent guided) and the dynamic (navigation guided). Both ways come through the same data acquisition and treatment planning, but the surgical execution is completely different.
From a wide experience on digital implantology, the speakers will present a detailed panorama of the two different ways underlining their benefits and limits.
In Dentistry, digital technologies are rapidly gaining ground: new tools such as intra- and extra-oral scanners, conebeam computed tomography (CBCT), software systems for computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) have entered our practices.
The real revolution is the introduction of Artificial Intelligence and Mixed Reality software which simplify both the planning and execution phases of therapies, especially with innovative holographic implant placement.
The “personalized” three-dimensional reconstructions and planning represent a further added value in the regenerative and reconstructive surgery therapies of bone tissue in the dental and maxillofacial fields.
The necessary tools will be analyzed and how to choose and use them in various clinical applications with predictable results.
In recent years, the industry has placed considerable emphasis on intraoral scanner technology, promising us unprecedented clinical results. However, recent research has highlighted a significant gap in this premise: the intrinsic characteristics of the scanners and human intervention can negatively affect the final outcomes. Not only accuracy (trueness and precision) but also the difficulty of performing a continuous scan without introducing a stitching effect (similar to the typical restoration processes of ceramic cups developed by Japanese ceramists at the end of the 1400s, known as Kintsugi). The goal is to obtain a mesh that allows for the design and fabrication of a monolithic zirconia structure that fits passively and can be stabilized without tension on the implants, with a fully digital workflow. To begin with, it is necessary to avoid a scan that results from a fragmented set with stitching lines that can distort, deform, and alter the shape of the arch we are scanning. Subsequently, to address and compensate for the errors generated during the scan, the IOSFIX® software and its advanced algorithm come into play. Through IOSFIX® and rigorous protocols, these errors are eliminated and compensated for, establishing a new standard in precision and effectiveness in digital dentistry. IOSFIX® standardizes the mesh and, thanks to the calibration offered by RINGFIX®, the size of any scanned component is known, allowing for the correction of both precision and dimensional trueness.
The digital workflow has transformed fixed prosthodontics, enhancing precision, efficiency, and communication among clinicians, technicians, and patients. This presentation outlines key steps of the digital process: diagnosis, intraoral scanning, CAD/CAM design, and manufacturing. Innovative materials, clinical benefits (reduced time, marginal precision), and strategies to overcome current challenges will be discussed. The goal is to provide practical insights for successfully integrating digital technologies into daily practice, improving patient experience and prosthetic outcomes.

Modern dentistry increasingly uses integrated rehabilitation procedures, an indispensable skill today both in simple and above all in complex cases.
Thanks to the interdisciplinary nature of the treatment, the patient can obtain results that would otherwise be unattainable by individual traditional procedures: all the members of the Team must share common possibilities, limits, purposes.
New digital orthodontic technologies (intraoral scanning, digital orthodontic set-up, CBCT and Digital Smile Design) can facilitate the three-dimensional design of interdisciplinary treatments.
Digital pre-visualization (DSD) helps in the initial phase of setting up the treatment plan and provides useful elements in the final restorative phase by guiding waxing and mock-ups with definition of the final shapes based on aesthetic and functional evaluations. The final restorative phase will then follow which can be completed with direct layered restorations, injection techniques, veneers, single-wing maryland.

Interdisciplinary planning of periodontally guided tooth movement in the patient without loss of attachment. In adult patients, orthodontic treatment can increase the risk of gum recession. For this reason, an interdisciplinary approach between dentist and orthodontist is essential to evaluate periodontal health, gingival phenotype and type of tooth movement, reducing the risk of long-term recessions.
Interdisciplinary planning of periodontally guided tooth movement in patients with attachment loss. In patients with advanced periodontitis, tooth migration often causes malocclusions that require interdisciplinary intervention. The report highlights the importance of an integrated “ortho-perio-prosthetic” flow to facilitate prosthetic restorations and place implants, thus ensuring the success and durability of results, as demonstrated by 25 years of experience and studies on over 50 patients.
When we evaluate the patient, to be a candidate for implant therapy, we must study the peri-implant tissues, bone and soft tissues very carefully. Is it necessary to do additional therapies to increase the volumes of these tissues? Can we perform simple surgical and prosthetic procedures and augment conditions and avoid soft GBR and CTG bone grafts? When are these procedures necessary?

The execution of a correct treatment plan in the anterior and posterior sectors depends on countless factors such as age, patient expectations, the amount of lost dental tissue, the possible presence of restorations, the endodontic and periodontal conditions of the elements and the gingival contour. The conservative approach with maximum saving of residual dental tissue and the “no-prep” techniques, thanks to modern adhesive techniques, have demonstrated predictable results, reliability over time with excellent aesthetic and functional results with maximum respect for the treated elements.
The decision-making algorithm, therefore, is often very complex and must consider countless decision-making factors with the aim of achieving the best result both from an aesthetic point of view and from that of the relationship between biological costs and obtainable benefits. After having drawn up the treatment plan, one often finds oneself faced with the doubt of which materials to choose. It is therefore necessary to have in-depth knowledge also in the field of biomechanical and aesthetic behavior of commercially available materials to achieve therapeutic success even in the long term.
The course therefore aims to define the best protocols for the functional and aesthetic restoration of the elements of the anterior and posterior sectors following a path that originates from the simplest cases up to the most complex ones. Countless clinical cases and rehabilitations with direct and indirect reconstructions in stratified composite and CAD-CAM, ceramic veneers performed with minimally invasive and no-prep techniques will be treated in detail, so as to provide the participant with the complete notions to best address the cases of rehabilitation of the anterior and lateral-posterior sectors.
In Dentistry, dental color is considered as a quality which is difficult to understand, evaluate, communicate and reproduce. Whenever we think about aesthetic rehabilitations, we also think about treatment planning, which will involve the use of a lot of digital tools (Photography, Video, CBCT, Intra-oral Scanner, Facial Scanner, …). And obviously, if we want to make aesthetically beautiful restorations we need also to plan the final color result. Nowadays, visual methods using dental shade guides, digital methods using shade taking devices, imaging systems, and color matching software programs are available to determine, analyze and verify the tooth color. As dentists, our main goal is to be able to deliver totally integrated aesthetic restorations when performing any restorative treatment, so the creation of protocols of how to achieve the correct planned aesthetic final situation is crucial to achieve predictable results.
In modern implant dentistry, achieving optimal functional and aesthetic outcomes extends beyond the immediate placement of the dental implant. A comprehensive approach that addresses both the patient’s periodontal status and soft tissue health is critical to ensuring long-term success. This lecture focuses on the essential role of a well-planned, evidence-based protocol that combines periodontal and soft tissue treatment prior to immediate implant loading.
Emerging evidence highlights the increased risk of peri-implantitis and implant failure in patients with untreated periodontal disease. Additionally, studies support the value of soft tissue augmentation in reducing peri-implant complications and enhancing implant longevity. These findings underscore the necessity of a comprehensive treatment plan that addresses not only the hard tissue structures but also the critical role of soft tissue health in the peri-implant region.
Through a clinical case presentation, I will demonstrate a step-by-step protocol that integrates thorough periodontal evaluation and soft tissue augmentation to support successful implant outcomes. By ensuring optimal hard and soft tissue health, we can significantly reduce the risk of peri-implantitis and promote the longevity of dental implants.
The key message throughout this lecture is that *purpose, direction, and planning are more important than speed* in implantology. A meticulously crafted, patient-centered protocol is essential for achieving predictable, long-lasting results in both hard and soft tissues, thereby maximizing patient satisfaction and implant success.
A correct treatment plan in implantology requires evaluations not only of type functional, but also aesthetic. It is intuitive that correct positioning of the implant, with consequent optimal emergence profile, provides the prosthetist with the ideal situation to obtain the required aesthetics. A correct diagnosis of the residual bone architecture will therefore become discriminating in evaluating the need to reconstruct the lost bone.
Afg is a system for designing, modeling and communicating the human dental shape, based on the discovery of objective numerical codes and geometric repetitiveness. It is an idea of the Italian dental technician A. Battistelli, who brought to the dental field the mathematical-geometric design criteria used in the millenary tradition by painters, sculptors, and in more modern times by archaeologists, tailors and restorers.
It can be used with any type of material and indifferently in the analogue and digital fields, as well as as an enhancement tool for the marketing of the practice and laboratory.
In 2010 the book “AFG Modelling” by A. Battistelli & Co. was published, translated into 13 languages, in 2021 the text “AFG Memo” was published (4 languages) both with the publishing house Team Work Media.
AFG has become a subject of teaching in many national and international public schools and universities.
In 2019 the Senate of the Italian Republic, chaired by the Hon. Sen. M. E. Alberti Casellati, wanted to reward Alberto Battistelli & Co. for having made AFG an “Italian Excellence in the world”.

Dr. Meizi Eliezer D.M.D, M.S.C, M.A.S (periodontology and implant dentistry).
Dr. Meizi Eliezer, got her Doctore Medicinae Dentariea (D.M.D) from Hadassah Ein Kerem Faculty of Dentistry, Jerusalem, Israel. At 2013 she got her MSc degree from Tel Aviv University. She completed specialization program in Periodontology and implant dentistry at Bern University Switzerland. she Accredited by the European Federation of Periodontology. Upon completion of the specialization program, Dr. Eliezer opened a clinic focusing on periodontal therapies, plastic esthetic periodontal and implant surgery, GBR, GTR, dental implants, sinus lifts and therapies for preimplant diseases.
From the time she was a student until today, Dr. Eliezer has taken care to integrate the clinical world and the world of research together. Dr. Eliezer has many publications in reputable professional journals in dentistry. Most of her research focuses on periodontics and implants. The use of aligners has reached maturity after more than 20 years of use.
We have now more scientific evidence and clinical experience to define the potential and the limits of this appliance.
Aligners have been use to accomplish simple dental alignment and mainly tipping movements allowing GPs to execute “simple orthodontic treatments”. Over the years aligners have been used for more sophisticated and specialistic treatments of various complexity.
Their use brings us to an actual conclusion: the real revolution is not in the aligners but in the digital planning that has been encouraged by their advent on the market.
Digital planning is the baseline for the orthodontic treatment with aligners and fixed appliances, following common criteria and a logical sequences. The biomechanics expression of such a plan will require different stages using the 2 different appliances.
We will report clinical examples of distalization, vertical control, interdisciplinary and surgical complex treatments comparing the 2 type of appliances using the same digital planning.
The use of aligners 20 years after their launch in the orthodontic panorama represents a valid therapeutic alternative and finally by fully understanding the advantages and limitations of the system it is possible to determine some elective cases in which their use offers an effective advantage in terms of efficiency and other optional ones which instead require auxiliaries to be able to achieve the set objective and overcome the limits of the system.
Over the past years we have been witnessing more and more demand for aesthetics by our orthodontic patients, as a consequence of the increasing of orthodontics among adults as well as the attention to aesthetics among teenagers. On the one hand, this has led to a greater request for treatment, opening up new possibilities and an increase in the number of patients. On the other hand, it has stimulated the birth and development of increasingly aesthetic and “invisible” or “poorly visible” methods, to meet the aesthetic demands of our patients. However, nowadays it is a scientific evidence and common clinical experience that there are limits in dealing with complex orthodontic movements with aligners. Some of these limits may be related to the operator, but most of them are related to the material and the biomechanics of the aligners. Some limits can be certainly overcome or minimized by the use of hybrid mechanics deriving from the association of aligners with skeletal anchorage and more reproducible and efficient biomechanics. Aim of the lecture will be to describe clinical workflows to combine aligners and skeletal anchorage in different clinical scenarios: from the rationale, to the choice of devices and timing of application. Attendees will be leaded to more simplified and predictable approaches, from easy clinical management and routinely applicable in everyday orthodontic clinical practice. New protocols and new therapeutic possibilities are nowadays available joining together the skeletal anchorage to invisible or quite invisible mechanics, with new opportunities for adult patients and not only.
The main question that every orthodontist today asks himself when he decides to treat a case with aligners is the biomechanical limits of this instrument and whether he will be able to obtain a predictable result. In the literature and at conferences, the results of the studies and the opinions of clinicians are varied. It is possible to bring together scientific evidence and clinical experience to define a defined aligner application scope, providing clear guidelines.

After his master’s ma he improved his experience in orthodontics and orthognatic surgery in the United States with Larry Andrews, Ronald Roth and Bill Arnett.
He was a clinical professor in the Orthodontics Department of the University of Milan from 1993 to 2008.
He is a member of EOS, AAO, SIDO and active member of the European Angle Society.
He has given talks at EOS, AAO and most european and american orthodontic societies.

D’Antò Vincenzo
Dr. Vincenzo D’Antò received his Degree in Dentistry, a Specialty in Orthodontics, a Master in Temporomandibular Disorders and a Master in Lingual Orthodontics from the University of Naples Federico II and a Master in Sleep Dentistry from University of Bologna. He completed a PhD in “Materials and Structures Engineering” and a second PhD in “Oral Sciences”. In 2017, Dr. D’Antò received the Italian national scientific qualification as full professor of Oral Sciences and He is currently working as associate professor at the School of Orthodontics of University of Naples Federico II.
Dr. D’Antò is member of IADR, EOS, AAO, WFO and SIDO, and the Past President of the Italian Society for Biomechanics (SIBOS). Dr D’Antò is Associate Editor of AJODO and OCR. He authored many papers and has given oral presentations in more than 20 countries and at the international congresses of EOS, AAO, IADR, SIDO, EAS, DGAO, SFOPA, SiAlign, NVvO, HOD. Dr. D’Antò received the Robert Frank Award (2004, 2005, 2009) and the Hatton Award (2006) of IADR, the SIDO award (2007, 2010, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023), the EOS Houston Award (2012) and the Tiziano Baccetti Award (2016).
In the management of periodontal and implant patients, based on the new classification, laboratory and clinical research has outlined minimally invasive protocols to reduce the risk of progression of the pathology itself and maintain constant eubiosis over time.
It is therefore essential that the dental hygienist, through proactive therapy, is able to maintain a constant state of homeostasis over time, making use of modern technology for clinical and home support.
The objective of the report will be to provide all the notions based on the gold standard of the literature and provide participants with all the briefs that allow the reduction of the bacterial load over time through natural substances, reducing the chemical pharmacological exposure to the patient long term.
Periodontitis and peri-implantitis are increasingly frequent pathologies in our practices. It is essential to know how to diagnose and know the various treatment modalities, in particular those that combine effectiveness and patient acceptance. The aim is to remove the infection but also to allow adequate maintenance of the health conditions around the implant and the tooth and to obtain adequate aesthetics. The different methods available will be analysed, such as the use of powders and additional means, and the preparation for the surgical approach and post-operative management will be evaluated. Particular attention is paid to the role of hygienists and the importance of synergistic work with the dentist.
